Multiple people struck in Prince George's County after vehicle crashes into business, flees scene
FORT WASHINGTON, Md. - Several people were injured and part of a building was badly damaged after police said the driver of a vehicle crashed through the front of a Prince George's County business early Monday morning and then fled the scene.
The incident was reported at about 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot outside of Martini's Restaurant & Lounge on Cady Drive in Fort Washington.
Video taken in the moments just after the crash shows a red vehicle that witnesses say backed into the front wall of a nail salon located next to the restaurant.
In the video, the red vehicle pulls forward from the building and appears to strike a white car before speeding off. The door of the red vehicle is open and a passenger can be seen inside.
Police and witnesses say the front wall of the TT&C Nail Salon was damaged and several people were struck by the red vehicle. Several vehicles also are believed to be damaged. At this time, none of the injuries are considered to be life-threatening.
FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick reports that the incident stemmed from an argument between a man and a woman.
Kenneth Mundy, the owner of Martini's, told Alnwick that a woman was in a dispute with a man in a tow truck before crashing her vehicle into the building. Mundy told Alnwick that the woman crashed into other vehicles and bystanders.
Alnwick said it was believed that an off-duty police officer who was hired to work security at the restaurant arrested the driver. Police have not released any information regarding the driver at this time.
