ATLANTA - The mother accused of kidnapping her 14-month-old son during a Division of Family and Children's Services supervised visit made her first appearance in court Tuesday afternoon.
Sahar Alwadi's attorney told the judge that she was motivated by concern for her toddler being in DFCS custody. Alwadi was booked into the Fulton County Jail after she and her son were discovered at a Super 8 Motel in DeKalb County late Monday night.
Alwadi was visiting with her son at Lennox Square late Monday morning when police said she walked out with her toddler without permission. A Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert System, was Monday evening activated to help located the pair.
Alwadi's toddler is back in DFCS custody.
