Montgomery Co. police seek person of interest in alleged inappropriate touching of girl in library

Police have released surveillance photos of a person of interest in a case of a 5-year-old girl who was reportedly touched inappropriately inside a library in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County police say the suspect came up to the girl in the children's section of the Rockville Memorial Library, pulled down her pants and touched her inappropriately last Saturday at around 6 p.m. The young girl screamed and notified her parents, who contacted police.

According to investigators, the male person of interest was seen on library surveillance video that showed him lingering in and around the children's section for about 30 minutes before the incident happened.

Police say the alleged inappropriate touching was not captured on video.

Police have released the photos in hopes of talking to him about the case, officials say.

Anyone with information about the person of interest or the incident is asked to call police at 240-773-5448.
