A West Virginia family is asking for the public's help after they arrived home to find their dog dead in the most unimaginable, horrendous way possible.

According to the family, their dog had gotten off of his run line late Thursday afternoon. Then, less than 48 hours later the family discovered their dog's body gutted, butchered and hanging by its neck from the front gate of their home in Falling Waters, West Virginia.

The family dog was a husky who went by the name "Ryu" and his family is devastated, desperate for any information about the individual who did this. They fear that the suspect is a danger to society.

The Humane Society of the United States is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons who tortured and killed Ryu.

"The amount of pain and fear this poor dog likely suffered is unimaginable. The perpetrator's acts display an alarming lack of compassion for life, and also signals that he or she is a substantial threat to the community," said Heather Severt, the West Virginia state director for The HSUS.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call The Berkeley County Sheriff's Department at (304) 267-7000.
