Metro train involved in deadly incident moved from L'Enfant Plaza

WASHINGTON (AP) — Metro is moving a train crippled during an electrical malfunction.

Metro said Tuesday evening that the train was being moved through green line stations to the line's northern end. The train hadn't moved since the incident Monday in which one person died. Metro said it began being moved around 8 p.m.

NTSB investigator Michael Flanigon said that an electrical malfunction involving the high-voltage third rail led the train to stop in a tunnel and quickly filled the tunnel with smoke. The six-car, Virginia-bound, yellow line train had just left the L'Enfant Plaza station when the malfunction occurred. The train stopped about 800 feet beyond the platform.

Metro said all rail lines that had been adjusted due to the incident are resuming normal service.
