Men suspected of hanging noose at school face hate crime charges

Two men who were arrested in connection to a noose found hanging at Crofton Middle School have been charged with a hate crime.

Conner Prout and John Haverman were charged yesterday.

Earlier this month, a teacher found the noose hanging on an outdoor light fixture in front of the school.

Police identified the suspects with the help of surveillance video from the school.

They were initially charged with trespassing, disturbing school operations and disorderly conduct.

Following the incident, community members came together in a show of unity and kindness a the school.
