Massive water main break sends chunks of concrete into the air

A massive water main break sent chunks of concrete into the air Monday morning in Prince George's County.

The break happened around 7:30 a.m. in Fort Washington near the intersection of Swann Creek Road and Gable Lane. Video shared with FOX 5 by Instagram user g_denise11 showed the blast shooting water nearly 30 feet into the air.

The main break was so powerful that pieces of concrete were sent flying into the sky -- some of them falling and damaging vehicles in the area.

Emergency crews worked to shut off the water to begin repairing the line. Six WSSC customers were reported without water due to the water main break.

Just before 3:30 p.m., WSSC said they finished all of the valve repairs and water was restored to all customers.
