Massive fire at Annapolis Yacht Club
ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Firefighters were called to the Annapolis Yacht Club on December 12 for a four alarm fire.
The fire started just after 2:15 p.m.
The fire alarm company alerted the fire department, who was flooded with calls about fire and smoke from the building by civilians soon after.
The Annapolis Police Department tweeted that streets downtown were closed to pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and advised people to stay away from the "very dangerous situation."
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. One civilian suffered a medical emergency and was also hospitalized.
Officials say it is too early to determine the cause or damage estimate of the fire, but that there was extensive damage to the second and third floors and water and smoke damage throughout the rest of the building.
On Sunday, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan will survey the damage along with the Mayor of Annapolis.
The Parade of Lights scheduled for Saturday evening was canceled because of the incident.
