Maryland tax-free week lasts through Sunday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - It's time to stock on up on school supplies in Maryland-- tax free! Maryland's tax-free week began Sunday, and that means qualifying clothes and shoes that are $100 or less per item are exempt from the state sales tax.

Examples of tax free clothing and footwear shirts, sweaters, jeans, dresses, underwear shoes and belts that cost $100 or less.

This year, the first $40 of a backpack purchase is also tax-free. Accessory items, except for backpacks, are not included.
