Mark Salling of 'Glee' fame arrested for child pornography

Mark Salling, best known for his role as Noah "Puck'' Puckerman on the hit TV show "Glee,'' was arrested Tuesday at his Sunland home for alleged possession of child pornography, Los Angeles police said.

The 33-year-old actor was arrested by officers assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task force, a police spokeswoman said.

"His arrest did not come about as part of an online sting," LAPD Lt. Andrea Grossman said. "Salling's arrest came about through a tip from a confidential informant."

Grossman is the officer-in-charge of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task force, which is based in Long Beach and operates within Homeland Security.

The arresting detectives confiscated "electronic media" during Salling's arrest, but she said details of what was confiscated must come from the Los Angeles District Attorney's office.

"I just can't go into any more details about the investigation or what was taken from the home," Grossman continued.

The L.A. Regional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, she said, was one of 61 such federal task forces across the country. The L.A. task force covers Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino
counties and includes 69 law enforcement agencies, Grossman said.

The arrest took place at Salling's home in the 9900 block of Helen Avenue at 9 a.m., according to LAPD Officer Jenny Houser and L.A. County jail records.

"Detectives served a search warrant at his home and then placed him under arrest for possession of child pornography," Houser said.

Salling has been booked and processed on the charge, according to jail records. He's currently being held in lieu of $20,000 bail. No arraignment date has been posted.

No other details of the investigation were immediately available, she said.

According to his Internet profile, the Dallas-born Salling is also a singer/songwriter.

His other credits included the 2014 TV movie "Rocky Road,'' a 2006 film, "The Graveyard,'' and the 1996 film, "Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering.''
