Marilu Henner, husband talk fight against cancer in new book, 'Changing Normal'

WASHINGTON - Hollywood star Marilu Henner has worked in television, on the big screen, and is even a best-selling author.

She joined us in-studio with her husband, Michael Brown, to talk about their new book - "Changing Normal" - which chronicles their life together and about Michael's fight against cancer.

FATE

Marilu said she and Michael were destined to be together. After first meeting in college, the two went on to start families with other people before they eventually met later in life.

But their relationship was tested almost immediately, she said. "Within a week we were saying I love you we'll spend the rest of our lives together. And two months into our relationship he was diagnosed with bladder cancer and a month and a half later lung cancer."

Twelve and a half years later - Michael is in remission.

THE BOOK

The book is a 'he said, she said' look at life from each of their perspectives. Michael said he dug deep to find out where the cancer came from chronicled his journey. He began becoming healthier by making better decision about his life - beginning with his eating.

Marilu said her start to living healthy began with the deaths of her parents back when she was younger. Her mother and father were both in their 50s when they died. Marilu said she used that to kickstart her own healthy life.
