Macey McWhorter knows a thing or two about having a good work ethic. The Sprayberry High School senior hasn't missed a single day of school since Kindergarten.

"I'm not sure how I stayed so healthy. I guess it's because my mom has been taking such good care of me since I was a little girl," the 18-year-old Marietta native told FOX 5 just days before her graduation.

Jean McWhorter credits her daughter's perfect attendance record to Macey's work ethic, something she instilled in her daughter as a little girl.

"I do believe you have to be there to learn and it teaches them when they get a job, you've got to get up and show up everyday, no matter how you feel," Macey's mother, Jean McWhorter, said. "It's not that she's never had a cold, she just never wanted to stay home."

Sprayberry's principal, Joe Sharp, is pretty impressed with the 18 year as well and told FOX 5 other students can learn a valuable lesson from Macey.

"She realized how important it is to be there every day. She took advantage of all the things great teachers had to offer and it paid off. We are very proud of her and she's a great role model for younger students out there," Sharp said with a smile on his face.

Macey said she plans to major in psychology when she attends Georgia Southern College in the fall.
