Manassas man who allegedly attacked woman in home arrested after stealing car from a Wawa parking lot, cops say

A Manassas man who allegedly attacked and choked a woman in a home was arrested after stealing a vehicle from a Wawa parking lot, according to the Stafford County sheriff’s office.

According to investigators, they initially responded to the assault on Sydney Lane around 2:04 a.m.

The victim said that she was watching a movie with a man when she briefly left the room.

When she returned, he allegedly seized her by the throat and began choking her.

He fled the residence after she broke free.

About seven hours later, deputies responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at a Wawa location on Garrisonville Road.

According to deputies, the victim told them he left the vehicle by the gas pumps and entered the store.

When he returned, the vehicle was missing.

They surveillance video showed a man they identified as Robert Allen Hughes Jr. driving off.

Prince William County police caught up with Hughes later in the day.

He was arrested and charged with grand larceny, abduction, strangulation, assault and battery, obstruction, and resisting arrest.
