Man takes plea deal in Baltimore ballpark assault

BALTIMORE (AP) -- A man accused of attacking a Yankee fan at Camden Yards has accepted a plea deal.

Gregory Fleischman's trial was slated to begin Monday, but his attorney says Fleischman entered an Alford plea Friday and was sentenced to 10 years in jail, with all but 10 days suspended. The plea, which was first reported by WBFF-TV, is not an admission of guilt, but an acknowledgment that the state has enough evidence to convict.

Prosecutors say that Fleischman and Michael Bell taunted Matthew Fortese, who was wearing a Yankee cap during an Orioles game in May 2013. Prosecutors say Fleischman punched Fortese, causing him to fall and hit his head. Fortese suffered a critical head injury.

Bell pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and received a five-year suspended sentence.
