Man shot, killed in Manassas after altercation, suspect remains at large: police
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. - A man was left dead after an altercation between two groups escalated to a fatal shooting in Manassas, Virginia.
Prince William County police responded to the 8300 block of Sunset Drive in Manassas to investigate a shooting on January 9 at 6:19 p.m. Upon arrival, police say there were no signs of injuries or any suspects on the scene.
While investigating the incident, officers received information that a 22-year-old man was being treated at an area hospital for gunshot wounds.
Police later learned that two groups were involved in an altercation that escalated while in the above area. During the encounter, gunfire was exchanged before the parties left the area in separate vehicles. The injured man was driven to an area hospital where he later died. No additional injuries or property damage were reported.
The deceased was identified as 22-year-old Calvin Tyshaun Odell Batson of Woodbridge, Virginia.
