Man rescued after falling down open shaft in DC building

D.C. Fire and EMS officials rescued a worker after he fell down an open shaft in a building that was under renovation.

Officials responded to the 2500 block 6th Street in Northwest. Multiple officials assisted in the technical rescue Saturday morning. 

The man was safely removed from the shaft and is being transported to an area trauma center with critical injuries.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
