Man fatally shot as he tried to break into Upper Marlboro home, police say

Prince George's County police are investigating a break-in that turned deadly early Monday morning.

It happened at a house in a gated community on Blue Sage Lane in Upper Marlboro.

Police say the man who was shot was trying to climb through a window when the man who lives there fired his gun.

The man who died has been identified as 30-year-old Craig Ivan Corbin Jr. of Baltimore.

The resident called 911 around 2:30 a.m. Monday to report that he had just shot someone who was breaking into his home.

Police say the two individuals had a prior romantic relationship.

The name of the resident who shot Corbin is not being released because he has not been charged.

It is not yet clear whether charges will be filed in the case.
