Man charged with sexually assaulting, killing woman found in lake was deported twice, report says

The man police say kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed a woman whose body was found in a lake in a New Jersey park had been deported from the United States twice before, according to an online report by the New York Post.

Hudson County prosecutors say 33-year-old Jorge Rios, of Jersey City, is charged with murder, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault in the death of Carolina Cano.

Police say 45-year-old Cano's body was found March 24 at Lincoln Park in Jersey City near where she was jogging earlier that morning. An autopsy determined that Cano died from strangulation and water submersion. Authorities say she was kidnapped and sexually assaulted prior to her death.

Rios has been placed under arrest. The Post says Rios had first been deported from the U.S. in 2003 and then again in 2004 before sneaking back across the border.
