Man arrested after sexual assault in Crystal City elevator

ARLINGTON, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - Arlington police say they've caught the man who sexually assaulted a woman in an elevator Thursday morning.

The suspect is 19-year-old Wondimagegn Azemach of Riverdale, Maryland. Police say he's been charged with abduction with intent to defile and sexual battery. He is being held without bond.

Arlington Police say Azemach followed the victim out of the Crystal City Metro station and into an office building near 15th and Richmond Highway during rush hour around 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Then, Azemach allegedly trailed the woman inside an elevator where police say he sexually assaulted her.

Police say a tip led them to Azemach. He was also caught on surveillance camera at the station shortly before the assault.

Police don't believe Azemach knew the victim.
