Man allegedly sexually assaults, robs woman in dumpster behind Va. shopping center

Fairfax County Police need your help in finding a man accused of sexually assaulting and robbing a woman at knife point in Springfield.

Police said the 40-year-old woman was walking alone around 6 a.m., on her way to the bus stop behind Commerce Plaza in the 7000 block of Commerce Street when she was attacked by a man.

Police said the suspect is described as a Hispanic man, standing 5'9" tall and weighing between 140 to 160 pounds. He was driving of an older model red two-door car with a distinct white or gray patch on the driver's side door.

Property Manager Rick Flores is passing out fliers detailing the attack, he is hoping they help to find out more information.

Residents and workers in the area say they're on edge especially because the suspect is still on the loose.
"Just be on alert, be cautious of who is around you," a nearby worker, Alyssa Hoffmann says.

Police believe that the license plate number could be the key to solving this case and making an arrest.

"If they see the vehicle that they believe is his suspect vehicle. Call it in especially with the tag information we don't know if it had Virginia or other state tags," asks Fairfax County officer Megan Hawkins.
