Fire badly damages home in Northwest DC

Firefighters battled an early morning blaze at a home in Northwest, D.C. Friday. Officials say the fire started around 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block Varnum Street.

Investigators say firefighters had to extinguish fire that had made its way into the walls of the home.

No injuries were reported. Officials say four residents and several pets were displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
