Lightning strike causes house fire in Ellicott City
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. - Lightning from overnight storms that moved through our area is to blame for a house fire in Howard County.
The lightning strike happened on Frederick Road and Marriottsville Road in Ellicott City around 5 a.m.
Fire shot through the roof of the home, however, the family inside was able to escape alive.
One firefighter was hospitalized with a minor injury.
Elsewhere around the D.C. region, trees and wires were reported down in silver Spring area and rush-hour traffic experienced some delays due tot he heavy morning storms.
