Investigation continues after bacteria found in Prince George's Hospital Center's water system
CHEVERLY, Md. - Crews at the Prince George's Hospital Center are still testing water samples and cleaning and treating the hospital's plumbing infrastructure after deadly bacteria was found in a water pipe that supplies the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Several infants were transferred out of the hospital's NICU last week after three tested positive for Pseudomonas aeruginosa - a type of bacteria often found in water systems.
The hospital says all services except the NICU are open to patients at this time.
The hospital is working with the University of Maryland School of Medicine along with state and county officials to find the source of the bacteria.
