Icy, slippery conditions across the area after overnight refreeze

An overnight refreeze caused slippery conditions across the D.C. area for morning risers as they tried to navigate on sidewalks, across parking lots, and down steps.

Although no new snow fell, low temperatures refroze many of the areas that began to melt Monday.

FOX 5's Melanie Alnwick said some sidewalks in Northwest D.C. were completely iced over making it necessary for some to walk in the snow. In the District, residents are required to clear sidewalks of snow and ice within eight daylight hours following the end of a storm.

The FOX 5 weather team is keeping an eye on two systems moving our direction. The first will move into our area Thursday into Friday and the second system is likely to bring a rain / sleet mix over the weekend.
