Human remains found in Herndon
Human remains were discovered Sunday afternoon at a park in Herndon, Fairfax County police said.
A resident located the bones at around 5:20 p.m. adjacent to a nature walk path that is part of Difficult Run Stream Valley Park.
The resident contacted police and officers responded to the area of the 2900 block of Treadwell Lane to begin their investigation.
The medical examiner's office has determined the remains to be human and is investigating the cause of the death.
Detectives are working to identify the person of the remains and how long they have been at the location.
