UPDATE: Police have released a photo of the suspect involved in the TSU shooting.

UPDATE: The Houston Police Department has identified Brent Demond Randall, 18, (freshman) as the victim of the shooting at TSU Friday. A third suspect, who is still on the run, is a 20 to 25 year old black male, around 6 feet tall. He is believed to be 180 to 190 pounds with dreadlocks, wearing a black shirt and black pants.

PREVIOUS REPORT: A Texas Southern University student is murdered on campus in broad daylight on Friday morning. Houston Police Department spokeswoman Jodi Silva said three suspects shot two students in the parking lot of the university courtyard apartments at around 11:30 a.m. Witnesses told police that the shooters then ran inside the apartment building.

"From the 4th floor, they went through several apartments," said Silva at the scene. "At that time, one of the suspects is believed to have run out the side entrance."

Two suspects were taken into custody, but another one got away.

Silva said one victim, a TSU freshman, died at the hospital. The second victim was recovering at Memorial Hermann Hospital with two gunshot wounds to the upper torso.

Shots were fired at the same apartment complex less than 12 hours before the deadly shooting, according to TSU president John Rudley. Only minor injuries resulted, but a student with a gun was able to get away. Rudley said that he believes that shooter may have come back to retaliate, but no matter the reason, the violence needs to stop.

"I don't want to be in a position where I have to explain why our students are dying," said Rudley. "I really don't. This is the second one this year for us."
