Heavy fog reduces visibility, slows morning commute

Fog blanketed area roadways Wednesday morning causing accidents and delays for motorists in and around the DMV.

A Dense Fog Advisory had been issued for much of the metro area until 10 a.m. Numerous accidents were reported as visibility was reduced to 1/8 of a mile in some areas. Officials said to use low beams and allow extra time for the morning commute. Police were also investigating a deadly accident along Route 340 in Frederick, Md. to determine if it was weather related.

FOX 5's Gary McGrady says that the showers are expected to continue on and off all day long but temperatures will reach 60 degrees before the day is through.

Sunshine is expected for the rest of the week with temperatures in the mid-50s.
