Gang member charged in Stonewall Jackson HS assault

A 17-year-old gang member is facing criminal charges after he joined in an assault on a student at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas.

A school resource officer responded to the scene at 8820 Rixlew Lane in Manassas around 1:57 p.m.

The victim – an 18-year-old male student – was participating in an outdoor class when four people attacked him.

After the victim had been taken to a local hospital for treatment, officers tracked down three of the people who attacked him walking away from the school.

The officers determined that one of the suspects – a teenager who is not a student at the school – was a member of the 18th Street gang.

The 17-year-old suspect is charged with assault and battery, trespassing on school grounds, possession of a weapon on school grounds, and gang participation.

Police are still working to determine other people who might have been involved in the attack.

They say the victim’s injuries are not life threatening.
