FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Family and friends have said goodbye to a 17-year-old girl who died last week when her car crashed head-on into a Frederick County public school bus.

A funeral service was held Wednesday for Claire Knight of Jefferson. Organizers called it a celebration of her short life.

The Middletown High School senior died Feb. 11 on a two-lane county road about a mile south of the school.

Deputies say she was driving north toward school when her vehicle veered into the southbound lane and hit a bus that was just beginning its route.

Neither the bus driver nor the lone student aboard was seriously hurt.
