WASHINGTON - Some parts of the Washington, D.C. area woke up to single digit temperatures on Thursday as frigid conditions continue to grip the region.
School closures, delays for Thursday, January 23
Patches of ice remain on some roadways and sidewalks. Several school districts across the area delayed opening times or closed for the day.

What we know:
Some parts of Maryland and Virginia began the morning under a Cold Weather Advisory with very cold air temperatures between zero degrees and 10 degrees below zero expected.
FOX 5’s Taylor Grenda says parts of the area could be brushed by a storm system that could produce some flurries or snow showers over the mountain regions to the north and west of D.C.
Sun mixed with clouds this afternoon will produce temperatures in the 30s for most of the DMV, Grenda says.
Expect dry and cold conditions for the rest of the week with temperatures slowly rising into the upper-30s by Saturday and the mid-40s by the weekend.
