Friends, family of woman killed in motorcycle crash heartbroken, start GoFundMe for funeral costs

Family and friends of a young Maryland woman are devastated after she died in a motorcycle crash on Monday.

Police say 26-year-old Priscilla Anne Alves, was hospitalized and later died from her injuries after the crash just before 6:45 p.m. Monday near East Gude Drive and Taft Street.

Officers say Alves was on her motorcycle when it crashed with a vehicle that was attempting to make a U-turn onto eastbound East Gude Drive.

A GoFundMe page is looking to receive donations to cover funeral costs.

"Priscilla was a friend to many," said Alves' best friend Bianca Rodriguez on the page.

Rodriguez says Alves died three weeks before her birthday.

"Priscilla has enlightened the lives of many with her smile and uplifting attitude. Due to the unexpected death of our young friend, her family is not financially prepared to cover all of her funeral expenses. Approximately $15,000 is needed for Priscilla's memorial, in order to give her a proper burial. These funds will be given to her mother in order to support her family in this time of need."
