Former Fairfax Mayor Scott Silverthorne in court Monday

The former City of Fairfax Mayor, Scott Silverthorne is expected in court on Monday.

He'll face a judge for a preliminary hearing. Silverthorne was arrested back in august in an undercover sting accused of trading drugs for sex. Silverthorne was serving his third term as mayor for the City of Fairfax and was also employed as a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools before his arrest.

Police said they made contact with Silverthorne on a website that arranges casual sexual encounters between men. He was arrested after he met with undercover detectives in a hotel parking lot in Tysons Corner and provided them with methamphetamine.

He resigned as mayor a few days after his arrest.
