(AP) -- Fairfax County fire officials say that a massive fire broke out at a trash and recycling depot building in Lorton is now under control.

Firefighters were called to the recycling and disposal facility on Furnace Road on Thursday night and smoke was still visible Friday morning. Officials say there were three stories of trash on fire and they expect to be on the scene through the day Friday.

Investigators say the fire began on the tipping floor of the building and extended to the holding pit which was filled to capacity. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
