Fairfax County police: 12-year-old boy charged with sexually assaulting 2 girls on school bus

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested after he sexually assaulted two girls on a Fairfax County Public Schools bus, according to officials.

Fairfax County police said their investigation began on Nov. 13 when two students of Camelot Elementary School told their parents they had been sexually assaulted by a boy on the school bus.

Following their investigation, authorities charged the boy as a juvenile with two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of object sexual penetration. The boy has been released to the custody of his parents.

"The school has been cooperating with the police as they conducted a thorough investigation of this extremely serious matter," Camelot Elementary School Principal Aileen Flaherty said in part of a letter sent to parents.

Authorities are urging parents who are concerned their child may have been touched inappropriately to call the Fairfax County Police Department's Major Crimes Bureau at (703) 246-7800.
