Dust, haze from construction work filled some DC Metro stations

CRYSTAL CITY, Va. - A dusty haze filled at least two D.C. Metro stations Tuesday morning requiring the attention of Metro staff who worked to clean up the mess while wearing masks and gloves.

The situation was reported around 6 a.m. a the Crystal City station. Metro Tweeted that the haze was caused by dust from construction work that was being done. They also wrote that commuters should be mindful when entering and that the exhaust system continued to circulate the air in the station.

FOX 5's Bob Barnard was at the Crystal City station and said a film of dust covered handrails and steps. He saw workers cleaning the dust by using rags and while wearing masks.

A photo posted online by Twitter user David Hellinga shows the Pentagon City station filled with dust. David wrote that commuters were exiting the station in search of fresh air.

Metro reported no delays due to the dust.
