Drug bust at Laurel daycare, son of owner arrested for possession
LAUREL, Md. - A Laurel daycare center was the scene of a drug bust Sunday, when police found 600 grams of marijuana, several grams of cocaine and about $10,000 in cash.
The son of the facility's owner, 18-year-old Kamran Awan, is now under arrest. He has been charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute.
FOX 5 spoke to the sister, who also lives in the house, and says she and her mother had no idea there about the drugs and what was going on.
Investigators say it appears children at the daycare, which is in the basement of the home, did not have access to where the drugs were located
According to state records, the daycare is licensed to care for up to eight kids, from newborn to age 12. Police executed the search warrant and the made the arrest Sunday afternoon.
No children were at the home when police made their search and arrest.
