Donald Trump reiterates that he loves babies, calls media dishonest
DES MOINES, Iowa - On the campaign trail in Iowa on Friday, Donald Trump made sure to let everyone know that he does love babies and he gave his side of the story after he asked a mother with a crying baby to leave a campaign event earlier this week in Virginia.
The screaming baby began crying out during a rally held in Ashburn, Va., on Tuesday, which led Trump to initially tell the crowd, ""Don't worry about that baby, I love babies. I love babies! I hear that baby crying, I like it!"
But after a few minutes and the crying still going on, the Republican presidential candidate then said, "Actually I was only kidding. You can get the baby out of here."
On Friday, Trump called out the media for being "so dishonest" for the coverage of the incident and said that "the whole place laughed and we had a good time" as it all unfolded.
"It's so disgusting what's going on with the media, so disgusting, and that's why we have to win," he said.
He added, "I've heard so much about that beautiful baby, beautiful parents -- so much. I don't throw babies out. Believe me."
Trump also joked with the Iowa crowd that the baby may have a future as a tenor in the opera.
"A beautiful baby was crying and I mean crying like you wouldn't believe," he said. "This baby could have been Pavarotti. I'm going to find out who that baby is. I'm going to make a deal with the parents because we can take that baby to training school and it will be the next great Pavarotti."
