WASHINGTON - On August 13, a local radio DJ nearly died after being viciously attacked in northwest D.C.
The incident involved 25-year-old Nestor Lopez, DJ Nestor with El Zol 107.9, who had stopped in Dupont Circle after work and was assaulted by a man with a knife when he returned.
Lopez said that the man demanded his wallet, and even though he gave it to him, he was still stabbed multiple times.
FOX 5 Bob Barnard spoke with Lopez as he continues on his road to recovery.
Lopez told Barnard that he felt the attack injured him, not only physically, but mentally and that he hoped details of his attack would help others avoid similar situations.
Friends of Lopez have raised money to help pay for his medical bills in a GoFundMe campaign.
