Deputies: Frederick man charged with murder after 2 victims run over with car

A 24-year-old man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder after two people were run over and dragged with a vehicle, authorities say.

The Frederick County Sheriff's Office said it responded to an assault call on Acacia Court at about 5:10 a.m. When deputies arrived, they said a man and a woman were found with serious injuries on the roadway and were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Delajhi Joyner assaulted 37-year-old Shondre Jannelle Brown Naylor and 19-year-old Jermaine Langley Hill Jr. in the roadway. Joyner then got into a Chevy Malibu and reversed on top of Hill and Naylor, and dragged both of them with the vehicle. He also drove the car forward and ran over them again.

Joyner then fled from the car, but was found shortly afterwards by deputies and arrested, according to the sheriff's office.

Authorities also say Hill suffered puncture wounds to the body and a knife blade was recovered at the scene.

The sheriff's office says Joyner, Naylor and Hill arrived together at Acadia Court in the Chevy vehicle that is registered to Naylor at around 4:30 a.m. Investigators are trying to determine the relationship between the three and the motive of the killings.

Joyner is being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
