Deer's head gets stuck in light globe on Long Island

CENTEREACH, N.Y. (AP) -- It was a deer in the....light globe.

Authorities say a police officer came to the aid of a wild deer whose head was stuck inside a light globe in a wooded area on Long Island.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation says one of their officers found the deer in Centereach on Tuesday. They say the officer spotted the deer in the woods with the globe on its head. They believe the animal had been lying there since Monday night.

Officer Jeff Hull approached the deer and tried to remove the globe, but it slipped out of his hands and the deer ran off.

When Hull approached a second time, he tossed his coat over the light globe and as the deer pulled back, the globe came free.
