SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a driver was killed when a deer struck by another car became airborne and crashed through her windshield.
It happened about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Nanticoke Road near Wells Road in Salisbury. Troopers say 67-year-old Peggy Lee Dickerson of Tyaskin was driving west on Nanticoke Road when her vehicle hit a deer that had entered the road.
Police say the deer became airborne and hit a car driven by 69-year-old Joyce Varnum Green of Quantico. Authorities say the animal went through the windshield of Green's car, striking her, and was ejected through the rear window.
WBOC-TV reports that Green was pronounced dead at the scene. Dickerson was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
