Death of Alexandria man ruled as homicide, police say

The death of an Alexandria man has been ruled as a homicide, officials say, bringing up the city homicide count to three.

Alexandria Police say 82-year-old Jerry Scott, was found inside an Alexandria home on Monday morning at the unit block of East Reed Avenue with trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Investigators say Scott's death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy conducted Tuesday.

Police were seen spending a good amount of time on Monday investigating in the backyard of the home. In addition, a black BMW vehicle in the driveway and a blue Chevy truck out in front of the home were also searched.

Alexandria Police say they are continuing to investigate.
