Deadly overnight shooting investigated near scene of transgender stabbing
WASHINGTON - Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in the northeast that investigators say happened close to where a transgender woman was stabbed the day before.
The fatal shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Mount Olivet Road.
Detectives have not released a motive for the shooting. No suspects have been identified.
On Tuesday, a transgender woman was stabbed along West Virginia Avenue shortly after noon near the east gates of Gallaudet University.
Witnesses told police that the woman either jumped, or was pushed, from a car. She was taken to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.
No motives or suspects have been identified at this time.
Police have not said the two are related.
