DDOT: Monroe Street Bridge construction to impact traffic through March 23
WASHINGTON - The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) says there will be several road closures as part of an ongoing reconstruction project of the Monroe Street Bridge.
DDOT says from Monday, March 12 through Friday, March 23 there will be one lane will be closed and one open on the Monroe Street NE Bridge, between 8th Street NE and 9th Street NE from midnight until 5 a.m.
DDOT says there will be a complete road closure at the bridge for 15 minutes intervals while crews remove existing girders.
Officials say drivers should expect moderate-to-heavy delays. Crews provide detours and flaggers on both sides of the bridge to guide motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians through the work area and maintain public safety.
DDOT encourages all motorists to stay alert and obey flaggers and construction signage when traveling through this area.
More information can be found on the Monroe Street Bridge web page as well as from DDOT.
