DC man accused of trying to stab pregnant teen with screwdriver, Prince William County police say

A D.C. man was arrested after he attempted to stab a pregnant teenager with a screwdriver in Prince William County, police say.

Jamar Wendell Jackson, 18, was charged with strangulation, attempted malicious wounding, domestic assault and battery and possession of marijuana following a domestic-related incident early Wednesday morning in Woodbridge.

Prince William County police say officers responded to the 4100 block of Dale Boulevard at around 12:13 a.m. and discovered through their investigation that Jackson was involved in a verbal and physical altercation with a 16-year-old pregnant girl inside the residence.

During the argument, police say Jackson grabbed the girl by the throat and pushed her onto a bed. The two continued to argue and Jackson would later attempt to stab the girl with the screwdriver. The victim would eventually call police and Jackson was later arrested.

Police say the pregnant victim reported suffering minor injuries during the altercation.

Marijuana was also discovered on Jackson when he was searched by officers, officials say.

Jackson is being held without bond.
