Customer shot, outside Exxon gas station in Suitland
SUITLAND, Md. - Police are searching for the person responsible for shooting and killing a man overnight at a Prince George's County gas station.
Police were called to the Exxon gas station in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road just after midnight on Wednesday. Investigators say 27-year-old Wayne Pope of Suitland, a customer at the gas station, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A preliminary investigation indicates the motive for the shooting was robbery. According to witnesses, Pope didn't appear to know his killer.
