Community rallies to help man injured setting up Christmas display
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Friends and family of an Alexandria man who was seriously hurt decorating his house for Christmas are helping Thursday to take down hundreds of inflatable ornaments.
Kurt Farmer was hurt when he fell off the roof Dec. 16 while putting up decorations. He is still hospitalized and faces a long road to recovery.
The tradition was started by Farmer's father 50 years ago when he owned the house, and it has become a holiday tourist attraction ever since.
Friends have set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for Farmer's hefty medical bills. It has already raised more than $20,000.
