Collapsed roadway in Prince George's County may take several months to repair

Maryland State Highway Administration crews have closed down the highway ramps to US 50 (John Hanson Highway) in Prince George's County due to a collapsed roadway.

The recent weather caused a pipe underneath Garden City Drive (MD 950) to collapse and caused a large sinkhole to expand on the roadway.

The ramps to eastbound and westbound US 50 will be closed until repairs are made.

Highway officials say repairs to the 12-foot deep and 160-foot long pipe as well as reconstruction of the roadway may take several months to complete.

Drivers using US 50 are being advised to use Corporate Drive and Pennsy Drive as detours.
