Burglary spree suspect wanted in Silver Spring

Detectives believe one man is behind seven residential burglaries that occurred in Silver Spring this past weekend, according to a release from Montgomery County Police, who also released surveillance footage of the suspect.

Each of the burglaries happened in the Chelsea Heights and Seven Oaks-Evanswood neighborhoods near downtown Silver Spring, police said. They were spread out, occurring both early Saturday morning and Sunday night, and investigators add that the burglar entered homes through unlocked doors and windows, primarily taking cash.

“It’s disconcerting,” said resident Tom Slagle, who lives near the burglarized homes. “I’m not real happy about it. I’m not sure the police can do much about it except for maybe increase patrols.”

Police added that people were home during some of the crimes. They’re asking anyone with information regarding the burglaries or the suspect to please call the 3rd District Investigative Section at 240-773-6870.
