Be safe and make the right decisions - that's the inspiration behind Drinkmate.

CEO and founder Shaun Masavage, and CTO Brandon Borko, have developed one of the world's smallest breathalyzers.

The device plugs into your smartphone to display your blood alcohol content.

The two locals designed the idea from scratch and have performed plenty of tests to verify the results.

Using Kickstarter, the team funded the design. They say they should be able to keep the device affordable - at around $30.

Masavage says he has received good feedback while testing it out at bars and restaurants. "It's great", he said. "Everybody uses it and all of a sudden everybody knows where they're at and whether or not you're above the legal limit."
